Although Magmafilm is based in Essen, Germany, it is now owned by the Swiss com­pa­ny Mascotte Film AG in Zurich. The magmafilm.com site its­elf, howe­ver, is ope­ra­ted by ManicaMedia S.L. from Barcelona, Spain. For the users this has the advan­ta­ge that the strict German youth pro­tec­tion laws do not apply.

I was espe­ci­al­ly loo­king for­ward to this review, becau­se MAGMA is one of the big­gest porn pro­du­cers in Germany. I know a lot of ero­tic movies and hoped that you can buy them quasi „first hand“ direct­ly from the pro­du­cer, wit­hout detours via third party pro­vi­ders like DVDerotik

As always, we start our test with a first tour of the pre­view area.

When you enter magmafilm.com for the first time, two things catch your eye. First, the large video win­dow in the upper area, in which a pre­view video is play­ed in an end­less loop. The second thing that stands out is that neither the video nor the pre­view images are censored.

The video win­dow shows some sce­nes from MAGMAfilm porn. Below that are various pre­views of sce­nes and vide­os available on the site. These are cate­go­ri­zed as „Hot Scenes“, „Most Popular Scenes“, „Top Movies“, „Latest Movies“ and „Newest Movies“.

As with most porn sites, you will find yours­elf quite quick­ly on the regis­tra­ti­on form page. However, for some movies you can watch a pre­view – video. This is a bit con­fu­sing, becau­se it is not mark­ed any­whe­re which vide­os can be view­ed as pre­views. The poten­ti­al cus­to­mer also does not find out exact­ly how many porn vide­os are curr­ent­ly available „on demand“.

On the whole, I think the pre­view area is excel­lent­ly done. It is easy to use and easy on the eyes.

Rating of the porn sites registration

If you did­n’t get to the regis­tra­ti­on form via one of the vide­os, it starts with a click on „Register now“. You will get to an English boo­king page. You can chan­ge it to German by cli­cking a „Language“ but­ton in the upper right corner.

After all, we are not tal­king about four pay­ment methods, but four pay­ment bil­ling com­pa­nies: VENDO, Webbilling, EPOCH, Centrobill. At the same time, these are also the big­gest and most well-known bil­ling com­pa­nies for porn sites.

Clicking on the Paypal logo is the gol­den choice and will lead you to „EPOCH“, where you can even pay via SOFORTüberweisung, Giropay, via Paypal and anony­mously via Paysafecard.

Further down you enter a user­na­me, pass­word and email address and click on the green but­ton „Register now“.

Be attentive during your payment!

I deci­ded to pay by cre­dit card. A boo­king form from the pay­ment ser­vice pro­vi­der VENDO ope­ned up for me. Nice enough, the fields for e‑mail, user­na­me, pass­word and coun­try are alre­a­dy fil­led in. What still needs to be ente­red is the name and cre­dit card data. Interestingly, VENDO does not ask for an address, which pre­ser­ves some anonymity.

However, there are also three check marks on the form, two of which are par­ti­cu­lar­ly nasty:

• The first is to con­firm that you are over 18 and have read the pri­va­cy poli­cy. Here, the check­box must remain set.
• You have to be careful with the check­bo­xes: „I sign up: 3 days trial at MMV Films“ and „I sign up: 4 days trial at Hustler“. If you do not uncheck these opti­ons, you have unin­ten­tio­nal­ly boo­ked two mem­ber areas! Such a thing is cal­led hucks­te­rism and in porn jar­gon „cross-selling“.

With a click on „con­firm your purcha­se“ you land on a white page and see the fol­lo­wing boo­king con­fir­ma­ti­on: „Thank you for your purcha­se! You now have access to Magma Film. Magmafilm.com is a sub-site of the porn net­work Gasm.com that also unites the porn labels MMV, Inflagranti, Herzog Videos, PURZEL Video and Paradise Film under one roof.

You can under­stand the ope­ra­ti­on and the struc­tu­re bet­ter if you first click on the „Network“ but­ton at the very top right of the menu bar. A page opens that gives an over­view of the Gasm.com net­work. It says there as text:

The white / black design of the inter­face is rather remi­nis­cent of a web­site from 1990. It takes a while to under­stand the struc­tu­re of the system.

• Scenes: The heart of the mem­ber area is the sce­nes sec­tion.
  Here 1.000 movies of MAGMAfilm are lis­ted. However, these are not com­ple­te porn DVDs, but from sce­nes from over 200 DVDs.
  
  On the left side are some cate­go­ries, after which the films can be fil­te­red. Several cate­go­ries can also be lin­ked tog­e­ther. The range goes through the porn scene and starts with A for Anal and ends with V for Voyeur. German porn was pro­mi­sed and for the most part this is also kept. Although there are also some American films among them.

An image view­er allows easy navi­ga­ti­on bet­ween the porn images. There is no slide­show but you can down­load the sets and view them on your computer.
• Girls: I find the „Girls“ page very prac­ti­cal, where you can brow­se for pret­ty porn actres­ses. From here you can also access the model pro­fi­le pages.

Opinions about page layout & design

The page struc­tu­re is quite okay and you can find your way around rela­tively quickly.

When you enter the mem­bers area of magmafilm.com for the first time, you can’t help but won­der what you have got­ten yours­elf into. The design of the Gasm.com soft­ware is a bit too simp­le for my taste.

It does­n’t get any more unkind than this. A simp­le white back­ground, in front of which the page ele­ments are pla­ced. This makes it look cheap and any­thing but appealing.

This is cer­tain­ly due to the com­pa­ti­bi­li­ty of mobi­le devices – but could still be sol­ved better.

Experiences with the subscription cancellation

Unfortunately, it is again the case that the can­cel­la­ti­on is made dif­fi­cult. Neither in the regis­tra­ti­on form nor in the con­fir­ma­ti­on mail is the pos­si­bi­li­ty of can­cel­la­ti­on poin­ted out. Only if you look for it in the mem­ber area, you will find it.

If you click on „Support for pay­ment pro­blems“ at the very bot­tom of the web­site, you will find a coll­ec­tion of ques­ti­ons in English. Click on „Billing Questions“ and you will see a series of ques­ti­ons. One clicks on the ques­ti­on where the name of the pay­ment pro­vi­der through which one has signed up is men­tio­ned. Here one lear­ns that the can­cel­la­ti­on is done through the ser­vice pro­vi­der’s site.

Unfortunately, the email con­fir­ma­ti­on after the boo­king does not say with which pay­ment pro­vi­der one has paid. Here you have to have a good memo­ry. In my case it was VENDO. You can find the link under the ques­ti­on „How do I can­cel my Vendo subscription?“

I choo­se „I’m just not inte­res­ted any­mo­re“. Scroll below to a gray box titled „Do you real­ly want to can­cel?“ and click the „Cancel Subscription“ button.

A box will appear with the text „You have suc­cessful­ly can­ce­led your sub­scrip­ti­on“. At the same time, you will recei­ve a con­fir­ma­ti­on of can­cel­la­ti­on by email.

Review verdict & conclusion of the Magmafilm.com test report

My opi­ni­on of the ero­tic site magmafilm.com is mixed. Magmafilm actual­ly owes its place in the upper mid­field only to the good porn and its good pic­tu­re and sound qua­li­ty. The many pret­ty, German porn stars are also posi­ti­ve to mention.

Although the pre­view area still looks very good, one is rather dis­ap­poin­ted by the uni­ma­gi­na­ti­ve design of the Gasm.com soft­ware. It also takes some time to under­stand the sys­tem. It’s a pity that such a well-known porn label like MAGMAfilm has the need to foist unfair sub­scrip­ti­ons and hide the can­cel­la­ti­on during the regis­tra­ti­on process.

Therefore, my con­clu­si­on is: If you don’t mind the design and you are loo­king for a sex site with high-quality, German-language porn, you can calm­ly book the site for a month. You will defi­ni­te­ly find good ero­tic movies that jus­ti­fy the price.

However, it remains to be hoped that the web desi­gner of Gasm.com will rethink their online pre­sence in the near future and make it more customer-friendly.
